Barge at Slimbridge, Gloucester (c. 1947 – 1948). Flanagan’s mother Monica was hired by the Severn Wildfowl Trust to manage the trust’s canal boat which provided accommodation for special guests. While at Slimbridge, the family stayed in two caravans; one new, the other a brightly painted gypsy caravan on loan from the Trust.
