Cambridge piece, 1972 (plastic and iron) installed at Laundress Green, Cambridge. This work was part of the Peter Stuyvesant City Sculpture Project. Flanagan’s work was destroyed by university students egged on by the response of a local vicar whose letter to the local press became headlines, ‘blow up revolting art!’ A maquette for the piece was exhibited at the ‘Homework’ show at the Rowan Gallery, London (1972) with slides of the location projected onto the work.
